About
The first foundations of today’s villas were laid in the 15th century, making Dvor Pitve houses at least 6 centuries old! In the 19th century, the family of a famous captain Niko Duboković (Nadalini) decorated and upgraded the existing buildings.
The members of this family were landowners, shipowners, and engaged in agriculture and fishing. At the end of the 19th century, captain Niko Duboković became the mayor of Jelsa, which developed from the village of Pitve as their main port. Jelsa, along with the town of Hvar, is now the main center of the island of Hvar. During the mandate of Niko Duboković, thanks to his involvement in growing vineyards and exporting local products, Jelsa made significant economic progress and became one of the most advanced municipalities in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
Today, many years after captain Niko Duboković, young locals have renovated these centuries-old stone houses and revived their old glory, and thus Dvor Pitve was born. During the reconstruction, great attention was paid to details and the creation of a pleasant atmosphere, aesthetics, and quality of indoor and outdoor spaces, resulting in newly renovated spacious and pleasant rooms, courtyards, balconies, and swimming pools with a view of the mountains and the sea.
And we pay tribute to the history, achievements, and heritage of the people who lived here in the 19th century. The houses are named after the famous sailing ships that belonged to the residents of Pitve. Welcome to Villa Ardito, Villa Nicolo, Villa Marietta, and Villa Giovanni D!
They were created for relaxation, and facilities such as super-fast Stalink internet, HD home cinema, garden with vegetables ready to be picked, along with the excellent service and the constant availability of the host on the premises, make this an ideal getaway during the spring, summer, and autumn. Dvor Pitve is today a symbol of luxury, an oasis of peace, silence, and romance, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, in the mountains and close to the sea.
Here everything is simpler, calmer, and more relaxed, and you can feel the history of this unique place as if time has stopped.

Fun fact - Lavanderman
Pitve is home of lavender plants and also Lavenderman. Lavenderman is one of the most recognizable superheroes in Croatia. He derived his powers from the common, sweet-smelling plant lavender, which gave him the ability to fight against mosquitoes, moths, headaches, insomnia, dizziness, liver and spleen diseases and various other ailments. Lavanderman became powerful when, at the age of 34, fell into a cauldron for processing lavender in the town of Pitve. Since then he does not age and has special abilities. Truth or myth? Nobody can tell, but if you want to stop the time and aging (or just feel like that), Pitve is the perfect place.
History of Pitve
Pitve is a village located on the island of Hvar in Croatia, often called “small Tuscany”. It is situated in the central part of the island on the road which connects the North and South sides of the island. That makes Pitve as an optimal starting point for visiting beaches on both the south and north sides of the island.
Pitve is one of the oldest settlements on Hvar. From this small village in the 15th century arose Jelsa, which is today the economic and touristic center of island Hvar. Today Pitve is a small, calm and peaceful village with a population of around 50 people. It is known for its picturesque setting, with stone houses and narrow streets nestled among olive groves and vineyards. In Pitve everything is slower, calmer and simple. The whole village is filled with the good spirit of the past which will make you feel as if the time has stopped centuries ago.
Explorers, traders, and entrepreneurs
Pitve and Jelsa, as its port, were home to an impressive fleet of trading and passenger sailboats during the 19th century, and by its end, Jelsa had the biggest sailing fleet in central Dalmatia. Croatian-flagged schooners, brigs, and barques roamed the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, exported wine to France and Italy, transported goods to Black Sea ports bringing back grain and corn, and exported world-famous Brač stone across the globe. This new economy helped build Jelsa into one of the most prosperous municipalities in the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time.
